(mm 2638.9) You have arrived at tree-covered Holman Pass. If you are interested, you can visit the cabin ruins that are 528 feet west of the trail junction at the pass.
For several years this was the base camp for Ed Kikendall's trap line which included the West Fork Pasayten River.
Ed Kikendall and Charlie Biart built a cabin on Shull Creek in Whatcom County to trap from in the 1926-27 winter. It burned in December, so they moved to the Holman Pass Cabin where they almost starved due to the loss of food with the Shull Cabin fire. This cabin is marked on a 1938 Skagit Ranger District map.
From 1943 to 1946 Rufus R. Blevins had a special use permit to trap from this cabin along with the Harts Pass Ranger Station. The 1943 permit indicated this cabin was 10 x 10 feet and in poor condition which Rufus would repair.
