Detailed Snow Status by Section

This information comes from the last survey by the Sentinel-2 satellite.
As of July 15th, 2024, the PCT intersects snow at these locations:

Section L (north of Rainy Pass)

Rare patches remain that should be gone this week. Definitely no spikes or axe needed today.

Section K, North (Suiattle Bridge to Rainy Pass)

Short patches around Sitting Bull Mtn (2558) and on Suiattle Pass (2555) that should be gone this week.
The Pioneer fire (discovered 6/8) is now 4.5 miles SE of Stehekin. Evacuation has not yet happened.

Section K, South (Steven Pass to Suiattle Bridge)

- Clear from Stevens Pass to Pear Lake.
- The Shoofly fire is burning two miles east of Pear Lake. Trail still open. (discovered 7/8)
- From Pear Lake to Red pass there are frequent but small snow patches to cross that should be gone this week.
- There appears to be a new fire 3.6 miles east of the trail at mm 2504, near White Mountain. This is the Amber Creek fire (discovered 7/14)
- Significant snow at Red Pass (2507) but not on either side.
- Prepare for a challenging creek crossing at Kennedy Creek. It's gonna be rippin'.
- Significant snow around Mica Lake and Milk Lake (both are still frozen over) (2522.3-2524.6).
- The Milk Creek valley is clear.
- On the north side of Glacier Peak, spotty patches from 2532.3 - 2534.5 Then clear to Suiattle bridge.
Anything not explicitly mentioned is clear.

Section J (Snoqualmie Pass to Stevens Pass)

Northbound from Snoqualime Pass you will encounter snow patches immediately after Kendall Katwalk that end after Ridge Lake.
- A half mile of significant snow on the north side of Alaska Mtn
- You will see spotty small patches of snow on the traverse under Chickamin Peak and Four Brothers that no longer touch the trail.
- Small patches on the Three Queens Ridge over Spectacle Lake that are easily avoided and will be gone this week.
- Lemah Creek is still running fairly high.
- The unnamed creek west of Hyas Lake should still be high.
- small paches east of Pieper Pass that will be gone this week.
Anything not explicitly mentioned is clear.

Section I, North (Naches Pass to Snoqualmie Pass)

This section is completely clear.

Section I, Mid (Chinook Pass to Naches Pass)

This section is completely clear.

Section I, South (White Pass to Chinook Pass)

This section is completely clear, aside from insignificant patches on the Naches Loop.

Section H, North (Goat Rocks, Midway to White Pass)

Clear from Midway to the unnamed pass south of Cispus Pass where you enter the Indian Reservation. Snow patches for less than a mile, south of Cispus Pass.
- Significant snow patches in Goat Rocks between 2284 - 2278.
- A half mile of snow patches on Hogback Mountain, north of the ridge over Shoe Lake.

Section H, Mid (Mt Adams, Williams Mine to Midway)

Many intermittant yet insignificant snow patches around Mt Adams which will be gone this week. No spikes or axe needed.
- Use caution crossing Adams Creek which is running high.

Section H, South (Columbia River to Williams Mine (Trout Lake))

Completely clear.
